When I was about 6 years old I remember driving with my father and hearing "People are Strange" on the car radio.
I didn't like it, it sounded weird and not happy like most of the music at that time.
When I was in my early 20's I revisited The Door's and "got them", the alienation and defiant demand of attention,
that to my ears is the difference between most music now and the changes represented back then. Most of The Doors music demands your attention, not some dance groove or catchy riff, but the marriage of music and symbolic splashing of words, which want for your interpretation, not music for lazy minds. Granted not every song of theirs is a work of art, but for the most part their work stays with you always.
I write a monthly column for a newspaper of a city close to Los Angeles. I am working on a story about the October 1967 concert the Doors did at California State University Los Angeles. I am trying to get in contact with fans who actually attended the concert. I you were there I would love to ask a few questions. (my email address is email@example.com). Thanks, Gary F.
Jim Morrison would have been 70 years old today.
I can’t even begin to explain the sheer brilliance of Jim Morrison that has influenced my life. Still to this day I have a hard time coping with the fact that he is no longer a part of our world. Jim Morrison was beyond intelligent, educated, witty, and eloquent. He knew and understood so much about life and I don’t think there is anything more admirable in any human being. There is never a day where I don’t listen to his voice or think of everything he has left for us to remember — his music, his poetry, his philosophy, his charm. Jim Morrison will live on forever. He will always be a huge part of my life.

Beheads the angels you destroy
Angels fight, angels cry
Angels dance and angels die.”
