Oh I think I saw a video with two guys and a really cute girl staying in the room 'Jimbo slept in' accross from a diner playing The Doors music but I don't remember it's name. They played with a Ouijia board which is not a good idea by the way in the room which was covered in graffiti and drawings of penises!
yes they totally play The Doors music there!!!!!
Barney's food is amazing! Cheeseburger sliders! Everyone should go once! They put a plaque where Jim Morrison used to sit. It's a cool dive bar with so much history to it!
The important questions are do they play The Doors and do they serve cheap alcoholic drinks?
Never made it to Barney's ....."Hamburger Henry's" was the Sunday morning pre-beach meeting place back in the day
i hear barneys plays the doors all the time(barneys neanery)
Who's the cool dude?
Nancy, "X" has the second best version of "Wild Thing"....At Venice Beach the beach itself is quite commercial, but the vibe on the walkway is still there. I got the bifggest sense of Jim and company while at The Whiskey a Go go...still has that atmosphere at night...
jim used to love the liver and onions at olivias i read
totally correct TD ""Soul Kitchen" was an ode to the Doors favorite hangout during in their post-UCLA, Venice Beach period. A cozy place occupying the area that in the '70s would be called Dog Town by its skateboarders, the soul restaurant known as Olivia's was like "a roadside diner that belonged in Biloxi, Mississippi," according to John Densmore, who remembers filling up on southern-cooked food and girl watching with Jim Morrison until closing time. Popular among cheap-eating bohemians, and folksingers like the young Linda Ronstadt, in 1980, LA's X, returned to the "Soul Kitchen" and served it up, punk style, with producer, Ray Manzarek."
Written about a small diner on Venice Beach I believe, ( I miss Venice Beach, a showcase for humanity and diversity...)
great song..soul kitchen!!!!!
Greetings and salutations to all!
