Nice version from Patti
I need to give that book more attention *
I perused it one time
Engineering is not my strong suit tho
leave that to my more advanced ancestors
morisun metaphorical machine maker

Exists very interesting and quite logical (as for me) book - "Who built the Moon" by Alan Butler & Christopher Knight.
What Have They Done To The Earth
as metaphor for a disillusioned universe?
Chizevsky also wrote that on Earth influences not only Sun but all Universe.
with out a doubt!
I have encountered that theory
time to wave our arrows
at the sun
Nonetheless, there is the theory (since the early of 20th century) about connection of solar storms and revolutions and wars on the earth ("The terrestrial echo of solar storms" 1913, by Alexander Chizhevsky, the colleague of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky).
Perhaps it was a conjunction of
Uranus & Pluto
that accounts for the creative energy
of the sixties?
That astrological configuration occurred during the
French revolution also
I don’t believe in it
it may be all bullshit
but true nonetheless
Sorry for my long periods of silence!
1. I didnt read this quote of Jim but it is somewhat confirms my idea. However, i think he was refering something more concrete because the general view of this process possibly only many years later and in comparison.
2. Wish to add to this theme that probably those processes have concerned not only musicians or masters of other arts but first the fans and other consumers of arts (but i really think that even then the vast majority of the Doors fans attracted extreme behavior of Jim, not Doors musics or a fortiori Jim`s philosophy). What about the reasons of those processes, i think that on any person in any time influenced by many factors (physical or metaphysical) which we dont see or cannot see or which we dont even slightest understanding, so to understand what happened in 60`s an 70`s is necessary to do a great work on gathering an the analysis of information about those time and there is not understanding what will be important and what`s not.
I have no problem with random its good :)
random & roll
random is my middle name
lol, a bit random then saying Vegas :)
no reason...i was just curious
i'm sure...lol, why?
shaman...you sure you dont live in vegas?????
it's actually very puzzling, i try to think why were there a vast number of great artists and innovators compared to todays "Pop star" is it they are trying to emulate and get it completely wrong or is it down to laziness to create something we haven't heard before, Thats why the Doors appeal to people like us with good taste, they are timeless and damn it they wrote some good tunes, some of the music in the 90's and the 2000's sounds more dated than most of the Doors Albums, you could write a thesis on the death of music and i'm there has been one or two...i'm going to think another bit about this.
not to speak for Shaman
but to quote Morrison
“In that year we had a great visitation of Energy”
well.. it doesn’t clear anything up
but it true nonetheless
I have the question: why in 60`s and 70`s great or very good bands and singers were totaled by hundreds but in 80`s, 90`s and in present time good performers are totaled by tens no more (i mean, have arisen at the appropriate time), and it concerns not only rock or rock`n`roll but all popmusic (as an example Diana Ross, Gloria Gaynor, Barbra Streisand, ABBA and other). I shall add, that most of the big old school`s performers exploit their old ideas, improving only technical side. Why is it so? I don`t know, but i think this problem is much deeper and "MTV generation" and a bad taste are only a consequence and cause not only in trends or progress of arts. The 60`s and 70`s were very short "renaissance" in whole culture (musics, movies, literatures, fine arts, may be politics) around the world and then all ended. Not evolution, not progress, more likely regress or degradation. This process does not have a logic and, in my opinion, may be explained by some external influence (of course not e.t., may be change in the magnetic fields of the earth in this times or activity of the sun or something else).
right on Shaman
I'm a loose rock
i love your posts mrmohs....haha
Good point guys !
Rock is Dead
buried in my back yard
Calling on the Rocks
there are still a few…
Music started to decline with the MTV generation, as it became more important what clothes and hairstyles were in fashion, music was secondary to this, now you have to be pretty to be a music star, if bob dylan or iggy pop went on something like the x factor they wouldn't have a hope, so in a way yeah Rock is dead but there are a few out there keeping the torch lighting.
I`m concerned about the generalization all popular music (of course is available classification by styles but is not simple sorting on a good or bad music, sure it`s prerogative of progress of the each person but without right influence the good taste is unlikely), and such great musicians and groups as The Doors, Hendrix, Dilan, Led Zeppelin, Waits, King Crimson (and more) and some ordinary bands like Poison, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard or other in fact are equal to each other, everything is measured by money... In generally i think that real rock is over with end of 70`s ("rock is dead" said Morrison), of course i understand that the music is a business but earlier a creation was more important then money now all to the contrary.
That might work...haha
that bad huh ?
perhaps Jim could perform
a little Backdoor Man on
that might help her sing better
no was only joking about Britney, would be terrible :)
I knownoth'n about Brit
Jim would be good for her in
Jim and Britney do The End .....haha
Who could duet w/Jim?
Jim & Patti
a glorious union
Well i always felt that way about alot of the older singers not just Morrison but Dylan, Reed and others it was not just a song they were singing it was part of them and there lives, so when some new artists sing light my fire with a huge grin on their face they are missing the point and aswell as that Morrison's songs were poetry and how personal can you get than that, some works of art should never be touched.
Certainly is the covers which is better than original but not Jim`s. I don`t why but think that may be his energetic and the complete melding with his songs. Should be noted that Jim`s songs is not only songs, it`s absolute complete, self-sufficient philosophical and musical things, therefore not surprisingly that only Morrison could perform it perfect.
i agree with you, no one compares to the original, miles ahead of even a great cover.
I like Patty, but i`m not heared no one cover (anyone`s) which would be better than Jim`s...
