Check it out at The New York Rock Festival Singer Bowl

I attended this show on my 18th birthday... amazing to look back at the band lineup and the music performed that evening. The Who played "Magic Bus" and told the audience about their forthcoming "Rock Opera." The problems with the rotating stage and a chance to get a close up view of the incomparable Jim Morrison (we had great seats). The memory that only 4 years earlier this was the site of the 1964 Worlds Fair. I attended six or seven Doors shows after this, but this one set the tone for what followed. A fantastic show... a career that turned out to be much too short. And today, Ray Manzarek died.

Newspaper ad and two ticket stubs from The Doors' 1968 Singer Bowl show. This show, which essentially ended with a riot, also contained the first live performance of Wild Child, with Jim stating right before the song, "Never performed before on public stage..." Footage from this performance can be seen in the unreleased Doors film, "Feast of Friends" and various Doors videos.
