Well of course no one can replace Jim Morrison or any other thing. There can only be just one thing of each which is irreplaceable. Val Kilmer wasn't replacing Jim Morrison he was acting as him in a movie. It's all just for our entertainment. As everything is.

I have to be honest and say nobody can ever replace Jim however it was very watchable though.

I really like The Doors movie. I like to share it with friends and get drunk while I watch it. There's no reason to hate it just watch it for entertainment knowing what's unlikely and what's likely.

I understand about the inaccuracies of the film. When I showed it to my dad this past 03/01/2013 he walked out on the blood drinking scene saying, I used to like The Doors. I told him the film was very inaccurate and exaggerated for entertainment with a timeline somewhat out of whack and also a fast forward on some things.

Stone's perspective comes from a young man listening to the Doors during wartime and later hearing a legacy from biased fans. Exaggeration happens, people want to recruit their friends. That was also a parallel of Jim's life. There is a reason Jim lied about things or tried to stay mysterious. That being said, Stone's version is of what many of the masses saw from a distance rather than reality. Sure nothing is perfect, Meg Ryan for instance, however I admire the risk he took. Or maybe it was really about the Lizard King.

hi queenhwy! here is what was discussed on the other forum: the link doesn't work, though, but it gives you insight on what happened.

Bobby Klein talks about this incident in the audio section of this link: http://www.rhino.com..._14_print.lasso
Pam apparently showed up on his doorstep crying, telling him that Jim had lit the closet with her in it...she ended up staying with him for a couple of weeks (Bobby Klein was the one who snapped the first publicity shots of The Doors and he was also a neighbour of Jim and Pam up in Laurel Canyon).

Actually, he did lock her in closet and set it fire. It is documented by people who were there. You can find it online, the guys name was Klein, maybe Bobby. He said Pam ran to his house after.

Loved the soundtrack...But it all started with a lie. In what universe did Jim first see Pam on the beach and stalk her? There were so many inaccuracies in the film...

How do we know for sure that that never really happened?

The Doors movie kinda sucked because Oliver Stone falsey represented Jim. He never locked Pam in a closet & started a fire !!

Yes, I was thinking about adding The Doors Movie Soundtrack to this post. I listen to the cassette tape on my little tape/radio next to my bed on my nightstand almost every night! I found it at a record store last summer in Daytona Beach, Florida U.S.A. I listen to it while trying to fall asleep most if the time. Heroin is an ok song but it encourages heroin use which is very destructive and negative. Carmina Burana Intro was great! What's that song while the bombs are falling from the B-52s on the projection screen? 'shiny, shiny' I thought they should have put more songs by other artists on the soundtrack since we fans of The Doors hopefully have all their songs already. I miss hanging with my psycodelic friends, drunk...

It's almost as if Stone parlayed his own mastabatory fantasy, or just simply tried to portay what he felt movie goers wanted to see, or perhaps both. Jim was primarily a writer, and based on his volume of writing would not have had time to be an almost full-time party animal or buffon as created on cinema......artists need to create

I saw it opening night on a Friday night! At the time I didn't know any better regarding the film and its not so factual storyline, but it has a great soundtrack. It did a real disservice to Jim Morrison's legacy. I've learned there was so much more to him than what Ollie Stone portrayed of him in his crappy movie!
