Trivia time...What was the title of the very first book ever written about Jim Morrison and the Doors? I'll give you 2 hints...I just happen to have a copy of it in my library and someone is selling a copy on EBay with a starting bid of $150.00.

That's good to hear harp
I can imagine that the coffee table edition
doesn't lay as flat now
water does a number on books
glad it wasn't the hard cover and bottle of whiskey!

I've mess around over the years on that Doors Collector site
I may very well contact them
or maybe there reading this site and getting a clue

I would imagine that book would end up into
an avid Doors fan hands. That why it may surface
in this age of the internet
thanks

Well Mrmohs, actually it was my soft cover book that he ruined, but I'm keeping it anyway, because it has all my notes in it. I'm still waiting for the hard cover to arrive that I ordered from the Doors Collector Magazine site. I don't know of any person in particular that you can contact, but they do have an email address, and a phone #. It's sort of like the ebay of The Doors. You may very well find what you're looking for. Stranger things have happened. Wish I could find it for your Dude. It might be out there somewhere. Luck to you!

thanks harps
bummer about your hardcover
he could have have spilt a bottle of Jameson on it
then it would be double bummmer!

I'd jump out a window if that happened
'cept I don't own one
just a blue Door
some guys are just lucky that way

but I go on & on

I need to check out that Doors Collector site
that just the place to make them aware of my lost
" Lords & the New Creatures"

would'ya have a contact?
take it as it comes!

I might have mentioned this before, but there is also a really great site called The Doors Collector Magazine. It has some rare and out of print Doors memorabilia. Although some Is a bit pricey, they do have some pretty reasonable items. I recently purchased an original hard copy of The Complete Illustrated Lyrics, by Danny Sugarman. The one I have is a soft cover, and I have a lot of notes, and highlights all through it. My husband spilled a glass of water all over it. Needless to say, I was pretty upset. I was not looking to replace it (per say), but just to have something more substantial to have in my collection of Doors items. If you haven't already, you guys should really check it out.

Well Guys
I just found a web site
http://www.abebooks.com/
that shows the edition of
"The Lords and New Creatures"
I owned

I'll have to do further research
to see if any of these copies
might be the one I owned

all I can say
is the prices for these books
makes me ill and longing

The doors bio in 1969 would be very rare indeed....

Thanks Stoned
If you ever see it on the market
you’ll know it right away

Plus it had had a paper sheathing/cover
in vivid purple of Jim
in the young lion prose

on the front hardcover is Jim signature embossed in gold
I’m sure that only a limited number was ever printed from this run
not more than 10,000 I would bet
its worth beaucoup bucks

faintly re-call the Hopkins Doors bio published in 1969
That would be worth gold

O and I think I have a copy of that
“Jim Morrison Adventure in the Afterlife “
somewhere

Hence you specified the year 1969 which I believed marked the self publications of Jim's two poetic volumes The Lords /Notes On Visions and The New Creatures which were later compiled

I would like to suggest my presumable guess are you referring to An American Prayer which Jim had self published as a thin poem book specially gifted to his dear friends..which were also audio recorded in March 1969 and in the Village tapes recording held on his birthday on the 8th of dec 1970...emanating poetic miracles like Dawn's Hiway..Magic Hour Tape Noon and A Feast Of Friends....
